Abstract

Wubaiti Gas Field is located at the boundary of Chongqing City with Sichuan province. It is discovered in August, 1989 and began to yield gas in December, 1992. It is a large-sized massive Carboniferous reservoir that covers a trap area of 140.45km2 with a unified gas-water interface and has held the total proved gas reserves inplace of 53.988×109m3 till the end of 1993 and yield 230×103m3/d of gas in 2007. Wubaiti reservoir is an anticlinal/stratigraphic trap that is sited at the east side of Kaijiang Paleouplift Slope in eastern Sichuan Basin. The reservoir gas derived from the underlying Silurian black shale and dark grey mudstone is the excellent dry gas with low content of sulfa and carbon dioxide. The reservoir mainly consists of gulf-shoal facies grained dolomite, which was exposed in surface intermittently and underwent with complete late-diagenesis. Exploration and exploitation history and experience, general geological characteristics of the Carboniferous reservoir of the field are reviewed in detail.
