Abstract

Though reef-shoal reservoirs have become increasingly important targets for gas exploration, the methods of the prediction of them and the identification of fluids in them are still in the probing stage. Comparing with poststack acoustic impedance, the pre-stack elastic impedance can be more reliable in quantitative-semiquatitative petroliferous evaluation because of data-based multi-parameter analysis. This method has been applied in the prediction of reef-shoal reservoir in FL area where intersection interpretation is also used after. The result has shown that the reef-shoal reservoir in FL area is characteristic of plane distribution, which is accorded with the data from only two boreholes. It is indicated that it is more reliable to predicate reef-shoal reservoirs by the intersection interpretation combining with Poisson ratio and shear module.
