Abstract

The Chinese continent is characterized by weak tectonic stability and numerous small plates or microplates. which leads to heterogeneous textures of marine carbonate platforms and developing troughs in deepwater and reduced or weakly reduced environments within platforms and so it is easy to configurate the multitroughs-in-platform in marine basins. The multitrough configuration may be favorable to diversify sedimentary patterns (further to form sub-barrier systems behind platform margin barriers), lithofacies distribution and reservoir bodies (to the penecontemporaneous dissolved dolostone reservoirs behind the back margins of barrier islands). The Multirough configuration also advantages the development of source rocks and the formation of associated source-reservoir assemblages, such as the ones along platform margins, along trough margins, within platforms, in gentle slopes and in slope-to-basins. Besides the source-reservoir assemblage along platform margins, the ones along trough margins are also significant for the hydrocarbon accumulation.
