Abstract

According to the features of rare-earth-element (REE) pattern and heavy mineral assemblage chareacteristics with integration of GR and AC logging data and sidewall coring data, a new method of strata division from the pre-Paleogene to Neogene (the basement, Zhuhai Fm. and Lower Zhujiang Fm.) is proposed for Fanyu Lower Uplift in Pearl River Mouth Basin. By this method, the boundary between the basement and Zhuhai Fm. is shifted upward from 2,779 m to 2,715.7 m and the top of Zhuhai Fm. is shifted downward from 2,528.96 m to 2,620 m. This division is accord better with other available data. It is deemed that the reason why the Eu and Ce elements behave negative anomaly in this area is the influence of chemical differentiation and the oxidation environment during deposition beside the different sediment sources.
